Decisive assault on the AXA J80 Autumn League

· This Saturday the fourth and final round of the AXA J80 Autumn League will be held in Baiona to decide its winners

· The crew of the Maija led by José Luis Pérez is the one that reaches the final with the most ballots in hand for the final victory

·Once the last three tests in the water are finished, Monte Real will hold a dinner for the fleet and the delivery of trophies

This Saturday the fourth and final round of the AXA J80 Autumn League will be held in Baiona, which has been held since last October in the waters of the Bay of Baiona under the organization of the Monte Real Club de Yates and sponsored by AXA Insurance.

At the decisive assault, the Maija crew, led by José Luis Pérez, is the one that arrives with the most ballots in hand to win the final victory. It has been, without a doubt, the most regular J80 in the entire fleet, and its good results have allowed it to finish as leader in two of the three days held so far.

At a distance of 5 points from its most direct rival and with the more than possible entry into play of a discard if the three scheduled tests are held, Maija should not have it very difficult to achieve championship gold.

El Cansino , skippered by Fernando Yáñez, is the J80 that has the best chance of stopping him. It is one of the J80 that has done the best throughout the Monte Real league and another contender for the title.

In the triad of possible winners, we must also fit the Luna Nueva of the Asturian Juan Luis Tuero, who has managed to sign, so far this championship, several victories in the different tests. It is, without a doubt, another of the boats to take into account for the final day.

A little further down the ranking are Luis de Mira’s Namasté and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco . Both have managed to stay in the “Top 5” for several days and their aspiration in these last races will be to sign the best possible results to sneak into the winners’ podium.

The final of the AXA J80 Autumn League will begin, as usual, at three in the afternoon inside the Bay of Baiona. The forecast is to dispute three regattas and, once the competition is over on the water, continue the closing of the league on land, with the celebration of a dinner and the delivery of prizes to the winners.

José Luis Álvarez will continue to lead the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona

· The current president of Monte Real has been re-elected to continue four more years at the helm of the historic club from Baiona

· Álvarez will be the visible head of a Board made up of nine members (7 men and 2 women) with two new additions

· The entrepreneur and businessman Francisco Pino and the renowned sailor from Vigo Marga Cameselle join the Monte Real management team

· The open electoral process in the club will conclude tomorrow, Friday, with the celebration of a members’ assembly starting at 5 in the afternoon

José Luis Álvarez from Vigo will continue to lead the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona for four more years after being re-elected president of the historic Baiona club.

Álvarez’s, who has held the presidency of Monte Real since November 2015, was the only candidacy presented in the last open electoral process at the club, which will culminate tomorrow, Friday, November 29, with the holding of a members’ assembly at 5 a.m. the afternoon . It will be a meeting in which the management team, already officially proclaimed, will present its project for the future and will submit to the turn of prayers and questions that the partners may ask.

The new board that will lead Monte Real for the next four years is based on continuity, although it incorporates some changes in certain positions and a couple of new faces. José Luis Álvarez ‘s right-hand man will continue to be Alejandro Retolaza , who remains in the position of vice president.

The post of commodore, which had been held by Fernando Yáñez, passed into the hands of Ignacio Sánchez Otaegui ; and in the position of vice-commodore appears the first of the new additions to the new board, the entrepreneur and businessman Francisco Pino , who replaces Genoveva Pereiro. César Fernández-Casqueiro remains in charge of the secretariat and the treasury is now the responsibility of former Commodore Fernando Yáñez .

In the board of directors of Monte Real there are, in addition, three members: Miguel Font , of installations and projects; Genoveva Pereiro , from foreign relations; and Margarita Cameselle , from sporting events. The renowned sailor from Vigo is the second new addition, along with Francisco Pino, to the Monte Real management team.

Maija caresses the victory of the AXA J80 Autumn League after consolidating the first position in the classification with one day to go before the end of the championship.

The sailboat, skippered by José Luis Pérez, signed a new victory this afternoon with a second and two third partials in the three contested races, managing to be, once again, the most regular of the entire J80 fleet.

With 16 points in the provisional general classification, Maija is moving away from its rivals and is approaching the final victory, which will be decided in just one week.

Their most direct rivals, from second and third in the provisional standings, are Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino and Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, who will reach the final with 21 and 28 points respectively.

Although less regular than the Maija, the Yáñez and Tuero crews were once again among the best, each winning one of the disputed races.

They suffered, yes, notable drops in the score of certain tests and that lack of regularity, which today was the dominant trend in practically the entire fleet except in the case of Maija, is what keeps them away from the position of honor.

The AXA J80 Autumn League, organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros, will conclude next Saturday, November 30, with the celebration of the last three races in the bay of Baiona.

It will be, without a doubt, an exciting day since if at least two races of the three planned are held, a new discard will come into play, which could leave surprises in the final classification.

Once the dispute in the water is over, that same day the awards ceremony will also be held for the winners. As has become a tradition, the trophies will be delivered within the framework of a dinner attended by the participating crews, as well as members of the regatta committee, the organization and sponsors.

The AXA J80 Autumn League organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros enters its final stretch tomorrow, Saturday, with the celebration of the penultimate day of tests.

Starting at three in the afternoon, the bay of Baiona will host the dispute of three new windward-leeward regattas in which the J80 fleet will try to sign its best results before the imminent end of the competition.

José Luis Pérez’s Maija, one of the most consistent J80s in the evolution of the league, is in the lead, closely followed by Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino and Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva. With 8, 10 and 12 points respectively, they make up a tight provisional podium separated by a margin of just 6 points.

In fourth and fifth position, at a greater distance, are Luis de Mira’s Namasté, with 18 points; and the Spaco de Santiago Estévez, with 22.

The penultimate stage of the AXA J80 Autumn League will take place, if the forecasts hold true, on a very cloudy day with a northwesterly wind between 10 and 14 knots, with a tendency to drift towards the west. At the head of the regatta committee, designing the course and controlling the evolution of the tests, will be Fernando Giraldo.

Monte Real brings protected minors closer to the sea

· The money raised from the celebration of the Solidarity Vertiathlon of Baiona and the support of the Xunta de Galicia has allowed the Baiona club to expand the number of activities of its Adapted Sailing School

· There are currently around 3,000 minors in Galicia who, for different reasons, have come under the protection of the services for minors of the Galician regional administration.

With this new initiative, Monte Real seeks to continue expanding a service that it has offered for years to people with disabilities, dependents, the elderly and students from special centers with serious behavioral problems.

· The MRCYB thus reaffirms its commitment to society and consolidates itself as one of the clubs with the greatest corporate social responsibility in Galicia

Last September, the Monte Real Club de Yates celebrated, together with the Baiona council and thanks to the sponsorship of Verti Seguros, a new edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon, a triathlon with which, for 5 years, the club has raised funds for its Adapted Sailing School.

In this 2019, the participation of 200 athletes and the collaboration of numerous brands and companies, made it possible to raise more than 6,000 euros, money that, added to the support provided by the Xunta de Galicia, has allowed the Baion club to promote new activities aimed at bringing the Marry people for whom it can lead to an improvement in their quality of life.

After launching adapted sailing courses for people with functional diversity from different associations in Galicia, taking users of nursing homes to sail through the “Amaromar” program and carrying out nautical outings with students from special education centers with behavioral problems, Monte Real is now expanding its activities with proposals for minors under the guardianship of the Xunta de Galicia.

There are currently around 3,000 boys and girls in Galicia who, for different reasons, most of them related to abandonment, abuse, lack of schooling or health care, have come under the protection of the services for minors of the Galician regional administration.

Some of them have already benefited from this new initiative promoted by Monte Real, which allows them to go sailing in a group with specialized monitors. It is a proposal that seeks, mainly, to offer these children the possibility of enjoying a few hours of enjoyment and disconnection at sea, while learning aspects related to water sports.

In the last of the outings carried out with supervised minors, the boys and girls were able to visit different points in the bay of Baiona, discover how a boat works and learn basic navigation concepts.

With the launch of this activity, the Monte Real Yacht Club once again reaffirms its commitment to society and consolidates itself as one of the clubs with the greatest corporate social responsibility in Galicia.

The Maija snatches the leadership of the AXA J80 Autumn League from Namasté

· The crew led by José Luis Pérez knew how to read the sea and wind conditions recorded this afternoon very well and climbed to the top of the standings after the second stage of the league

· El Cansino by Fernando Yáñez was on the verge of becoming the leader despite having achieved the best results of the day with two first places and one second

Luis de Mira’s Namasté, which was at the head of the Monte Real league, fell to fourth position behind Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, which is third

Maija snatched the leadership of the AXA J80 Autumn League this afternoon from Luis de Mira’s Namasté, who had been at the top of the standings since the opening day of the competition.

The crew, led by José Luis Pérez, knew how to read very well the sea and wind conditions that occurred this afternoon in Baiona, with a northwesterly wind almost north, of about 12 knots of intensity, and quite a lot of waves; and managed to prevail over the rest of the J80 who are competing for the one-design league.

Since the competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates began with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros, the Maija is one of the most regular J80, also obtaining very good marks in all the tests.

In the 6 races held to date, José Luis Pérez’s men managed to cross the finish line always first or second, except on one occasion, when they finished sixth. The entry into play today of a discard allowed the crew to eliminate that bad result from the score and place themselves at the head of the provisional classification.

The other crew that is standing out above the rest in this AXA J80 Autumn League, although in a more irregular way than the Maija, is the Cansino, skippered by Commodore del Monte Real, Fernando Yáñez. In today’s session, after signing two first and a third, he managed to climb two steps in the classification, rising from fourth to second place.

In the third place on the provisional podium are Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, who had already held the bronze position since the first day.

Luis de Mira’s Namasté, which came first, fell to fourth position; and in the fifth the Spaco de Santiago Estévez is maintained.

The AXA J80 Autumn League, organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros, continues on November 23 with the third and penultimate day of tests, in which the one-designs with aspirations for the podium will have to make an effort to consolidate positions in the highest positions of the classification.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the AXA J80 Autumn League returns to the bay of Baiona, which resumes the regattas after two weeks off since the opening day was held on October 26.

The fleet of sailboats participating in the one-design competition organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros will be joined on this occasion by the SND Cormorán, skippered by Francisco J. Martínez.

Thus, there will be a total of 12 J80s that will race this Saturday in Baiona, on a day that will be marked by weather instability. Although the day will dawn very bleak, with rain and a shifting wind, forecasts suggest that after three o’clock, the scheduled time for the start of the tests, the showers will cease and a northwesterly wind of between 14 and 18 knots will set in.

If the forecast is fulfilled, the J80 fleet would have the ideal conditions to compete in the three races that the regatta committee hopes to be able to start and complete successfully.

Namasté, first leader of the AXA J80 Autumn League

Skippered by Luis de Mira, Namasté was placed at the head of the provisional classification of the Monte Real one-design league

José Luis Pérez Vázquez’s Maija and Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva were second and third respectively

· The AXA J80 Autumn League will hold three more days throughout the month of November

Namasté became the first leader of the AXA J80 Autumn League this afternoon after winning the opening day of the one-design competition that Monte Real Club de Yates, sponsored by AXA Seguros, will hold until the end of November.

The sailboat, skippered by Luis de Mira, won the victory after signing a first, a third and a second in the three tests with windward-leeward format of double lap that were disputed inside the Bay of Baiona, in two different regatta fields.

First day of the AXA J80 Autumn League – Photo © Rosana Calvo

The first test was, without a doubt, the most complicated due to the instability of the wind, which continuously rolled, rose and fell, and even disappeared at times. Given the situation, the race committee wisely decided to move the test field and move it further out, where they encountered a southwesterly wind with an intensity of between 10 and 12 knots.

The new scenario made it possible to celebrate the other two tests scheduled in the program, not exempt from some role and some drop in intensity, which in any case did not force the field to be modified again. The fleet sailed more evenly, with very close entries, which even generated occasional protests that were resolved without problems.

The Namasté of Luis de Mira – Photo © Rosana Calvo

Luis de Mira’s Namasté, with a somewhat different crew than the one it maintained throughout the 2019 regatta season, managed to beat the rest of the fleet with 6 points.

The Maija by José Luis Pérez Vázquez – Photo © Rosana Calvo

It relegated José Luis Pérez Vázquez’s Maija to second place, which was, without a doubt, one of the sailboats that haggled the best on this day. He started very strongly, signing a first and a second, but a fall to sixth position in the last test took away the final victory.

The New Moon by Juan Luis Tuero – Photo © Rosana Calvo

Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, another of the regulars on the J80 league podiums, had to settle for third place.

Thus, the provisional podium was formed at the start of the J80 one-design autumn league, in which Fernándo Yáñez’s Cansino and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco are fourth and fifth in the provisional classification.

The AXA J80 Autumn League will maintain the same format as in previous editions and will play the different days with a 15-day break between them, except in the last stage. Thus, the next appointment with the monotypes in Baiona will be on November 9; and there will be two more days on November 23 and 30. It will be that day, the last of the month, the closing of the competition, with the award ceremony for the winners and a dinner for the entire participating fleet.

Baiona hosts this Saturday from three in the afternoon the first day of the AXA J80 Autumn League, the last round of the sports season of the Monte Real Club de Yates in this 2019. The Baionese club closes its competitions of the year with the celebration of 4 regatta days for J80 sailboats, a class for which it has been betting for years.

With a fleet of eleven sailboats in contention, the league will start without a clear favorite on the water, since the winner of the last two editions, Javier de la Gándara from Vigo, will be absent on this occasion as he finds himself fine-tuning the boat ahead of the 2020 season.

The participation of the rest of the crews that completed the podium in 2018 is expected: the Marías Casas do Telhado of the Portuguese Manuel María Cunha, who will be second; and Luna Nueva by Asturian Juan Luis Tuero, who won the bronze.

Together with them we will see regulars from the highest positions in the J80 leagues, such as Commodore del Monte Real’s Cansino, Fernando Yáñez; the Namaste by Luis de Mira; the Maija de Iñigo Alzueta or the Pazo de Cea, among others. Two new boats will join them in this new edition of the autumn competition: the Petrilla, from Sanxenxo, with Jaime Barreiro at the helm; and the Spaco, by Santiago Estevez.

Directing everything on the water, at the head of the regatta committee, will be Fernando Giraldo, who will be in charge of designing the test field based on a weather forecast that announces winds from the south southwest of between 11 and 12 knots with peaks of up to 18 knots at times Good wind conditions, without a doubt, for the dispute of the three sleeves foreseen in the inaugural program.

· The fifth edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon was organized for yet another year by the Monte Real Yacht Club and the Baiona City Council with the sponsorship of Verti Seguros and the collaboration of FEGATRI

Another success of the Solidarity Vertiathlon of Baiona, which this Saturday celebrated its fifth edition with the collection of 6,300 euros for the Adapted Sailing School of the Monte Real Club de Yates, which has been working for years for the inclusion of people with functional diversity in the nautical world , so that they can enjoy the sea under equal conditions.

Being able to offer more courses, activities and better services to people with physical, mental, sensory or intellectual disabilities is the main objective of the joint forces of Monte Real and the Baiona city council when it comes to promoting this solidarity triathlon, in the which also collaborated, one more year, the Galician Triathlon Federation at an organizational level, and Verti Seguros as the main sponsor of the event.

An event that generated great expectation this Saturday on the beaches and streets of Baiona, where hundreds of people, on a spectacular summer day, gathered to cheer on the more than 200 participating athletes, who completed a sprint triathlon with the sea always at their side. the view, since it is precisely this peculiarity, that of being held in a 100% maritime setting, one of the greatest attractions of the Baiona Vertiathlon.

After swimming the 750 meters that separate A Barbeira beach from the A Ribeira sandbank, the athletes cycled almost 20 kilometers along the streets of Baiona closest to the sea and finished the triathlon by running 5 kilometers along the Monte Boi peninsula, surrounding the historic Parador de Baiona.

Under the hour he completed the Vertiathlon route, the 17-year-old Xosé Pérez Blanco, from the Lamargha Beariz Triathlon, breaking the finish line in 59 minutes and 51 seconds. He was the fastest of all and won the grand prize of the sprint triathlon, winning the men’s absolute category. The female junior category was deserted and the victory of the male category went to Yago Carballo, from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club.

In addition, two prizes were awarded to the best classified in the census in Baiona, which went to Sandra Santodomingo and David Giraldez, two of the most outstanding athletes in the fishing village, who have been imposing themselves in local events for years.

The Vertiathlon awards ceremony ended, as has become a tradition, with the delivery of the check with the money raised for the Adapted Sailing School of the Monte Real Yacht Club. A check valued at 6,300 euros that the director of the MAPFRE group, Luis Hernando de Larramendi, delivered to the vice-president of the Baiona club, Alejandro Retolaza.

Retolaza had words of recognition and admiration for the athletes who put all their efforts to complete the test while helping the club’s Adapted Sailing School. He also wanted to thank, on behalf of the entire Monte Real, the support of the large group of firms and companies that selflessly helped make this new edition of the Vertiathlon a reality. He also dedicated words of thanks to the residents of Baiona who each year, he said, turn to the solidarity event, making a great effort to allow the town to be closed for several hours.

A family photo of authorities and winners, joined by many participants, put an end to a Vertiathlon that has already announced the celebration of its sixth edition for September 2020.

More than 200 solidarity athletes in the fifth edition of the Baiona Vertiathlon

Baiona hosts this Saturday the celebration of the fifth edition of its solidarity triathlon with sprint format in which 238 athletes from all over Galicia will participate

· All the money raised will go to the Monte Real Adapted Sailing School, which offers people with functional diversity the possibility of sailing under equal conditions.

· The test is organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Baiona city council with the collaboration of the Galician Triathlon Federation and the sponsorship of Verti Seguros

211 athletes will participate this Saturday in Baiona in a new edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon, a triathlon with a sprint format that for five years has been raising funds for the Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club.

It is precisely the Baiona club that, hand in hand with the Baiona city council, the collaboration of the Galician Triathlon Federation and the sponsorship of Verti Seguros, promotes this solidarity test with the aim of being able to continue financing all the courses and activities that it organizes free of charge so that people with functional diversity can navigate and enjoy the sea under equal conditions.

In this fifth edition, the Solidarity Vertiathlon will maintain the same test design as on previous occasions. It will have the scheme of a sprint triathlon, with a 750-meter swimming test, a 20-kilometer bicycle test and a final test in which the athletes must complete a 5-kilometer run.

The three tests will take place in scenarios related to the sea or with views of the sea, this peculiarity being one of the characteristics that makes this triathlon so special.

The competition will begin at four in the afternoon on A Barbeira beach, inside the Parador Nacional de Baiona, from where the swimming test will start. Athletes must go around the facilities of the Monte Real Club de Yates to A Ribeira beach, where they will find the first section of the link to the second of the tests, the cyclist.

At the basketball court in the area of La Palma they will take their bicycles, prepared in advance, and will undertake a journey of almost 20 kilometers consisting of three laps between the two roundabouts that give access to Baiona, Baredo and Santa Marta.

The last of the Vertiathlon tests will be the foot race. 5 kilometers surrounding the walled enclosure of the Monterreal peninsula, also known as the Monte Boi peninsula, in a double loop, where the Parador Nacional is located.

Once the tour is over, the gardens of the Monte Real Yacht Club will be the meeting point for the athletes at the award ceremony for the winners. Trophies will be given to the first classified of the different classes that participate: absolute male and female, veterans, youth, cadets and two special prizes to the best triathletes registered in Baiona.

In the last edition of the Vertiathlon, the winners were Denis Incutti, from the Ribeira Swimming Club; and María Lois, from the Arcade Infohouse Santiago. In veterans, Pedro Pablo Bernardez and Sandra Santodomingo took the victory; and Xoel Rodríguez and Antía Pazos won in cadet.

The official presentation of the fifth edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon of Baiona was held this morning at the Monte Real Club de Yates with the interventions of the mayor of Baiona, Carlos Gómez; the General Secretary for Sport of the Xunta de Galicia, José Ramón Lete; the General Director of Seniors and People with Disabilities, Ildefonso de la Campa; Provincial Deputy Santos Héctor Rodríguez; the FEGATRI delegate in Pontevedra, Enrique Hernández; and the marketing manager of Coca Cola European Partners, María Troncoso.

“The club started years ago with the adapted sailing school and we have been promoting this Vertiathlon initiative for five years. We understand that there is nothing more beautiful than an athlete helping another athlete, and even more so if it is from a different sport. The environment is wonderful and the town welcomes it with great affection, something that fills us with pride”

Alejandro Retolaza, Vice President of the Monte Real Yacht Club

“The people of Baiona are aware of social inclusion and the adapted sailing courses offered by the Monte Real Club de Yates are essential. We are committed to being an inclusive town and we are not going to stop putting all our efforts to guarantee that people with functional diversity feel more and more comfortable in the town of Baiona”

Carlos Gómez, Mayor of Bayonne

“There are two aspects of sport, two segments that are very important: one, the solidarity aspect, and the other, the inclusive aspect. Our motto in the xeral secretariat is “sport for life” and inclusive sport must also be worked on based on this motto, and that is why it is so important to hold this type of event”

José Ramón Lete Lasa, General Secretary for Sport

“Monte Real is an example of effective inclusive action, for several reasons. First, because they are promoting one of the main pillars on which we base inclusion policies: having people with functional diversity. And then for giving them visibility and normalizing their situation”

Ildefonso de la Campa, General Director of Seniors and People with Disabilities

“Monte Real has a rhythm of a lot of work and a lot of activity during the summer and the organizational effort of the club is truly exemplary, especially when this type of solidarity initiatives are also included in its program of events. From here I can only encourage all the athletes to join the event and all the people to come to Baiona to enjoy it”

Santos Héctor Rodríguez, provincial deputy

“The Solidarity Vertiathlon is in the form of a sprint triathlon, with a 750-meter swim, almost 20 kilometers by bike and a 5-kilometer run. It is a very nice test not only because of its characteristics but also because of the setting in which it takes place, always by the sea”

Enríque Hernández, FEGATRI delegate in Pontevedra

“The philosophy of the Monte Real Club de Yates fits very well with ours in the sense that we try to generate a current of work towards sustainability. And this Vertiathlon not only fits in this sense, but it is also a great initiative at a social level, involving a large number of athletes and different people, institutions and firms working together for the same purpose “

María Troncoso, Marketing Manager of Coca Cola European Partners

The Prince of Asturias Trophy crowns the winners of its 34th edition

· The winners of the event in Baiona are Yess Too, Bosch Service Solutions, Raygrass III, Albarellos, Bombastic, Salseiro, Miña Miniña, Bribon 500 Movistar, Stella, Okofen and ¡HOLA! fashion

· After the first two stages with very good conditions, the wind complicated the last day of the regatta, in which only five of the eleven classes in contention were able to compete

· The award ceremony put an end to the most massive edition of one of the most important regattas on the national cruise calendar organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Escuela Naval Militar

A historic Prince of Asturias Trophy ends in Baiona. The event, organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Escuela Naval Militar with the sponsorship of ABANCA, today completed the third and last day of its thirty-fourth edition. A record edition that managed to bring together more than 80 boats and nearly 500 sailors in the bay. The winners of the eleven categories in contention were awarded at the trophy ceremony that put an end to the dispute of the last tests in the water.

Yess Too comes from behind to take the victory in Martin Miller ORC 0-1

Exciting finale of the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy for Martin Miller ORC’s fleet 0-1. With about six knots of north-westerly wind, the Committee was able to complete a final windward-leeward format test that turned out to be definitive. Rui Ramada’s Yess Too, who was fifth overall yesterday, won today’s race with total authority, which allowed the local team to add another victory this season after the victory obtained at the Conde de Gondomar.

Behind, and tied on points with those of Ramada, the second place went to Marias-Casas do Telhado of Manuel María Cunha, who also sails under the banner of MRCYB, while the podium this time was closed by Pairo 8 of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, armed by José Luis Freire and with Alberto Basadre at the helm on this last day.

New triumph and final victory for Bosch Service Solutions in Oils April ORC 2

There have been no changes in the general of Aceites Abril ORC 2. Today, Sunday, the fleet also completed a final leg in which Ramón Ojea’s Bosch Service Solutions was once again the best, claiming its fifth partial victory in the five races held. With these results, and having had a perfect weekend, the team from the Club Marítimo de Canido sealed today the final victory with a six-point advantage over the second-placed team, the Asturian Antílope-Lener led by José Luis Alcuso. The third position was occupied in this case by Francisco Edreira’s Cachete, from the La Penela Maritime Club.

Triumph at Gadis ORC 3 for the Raygrass III

Another category that was able to sail today was the Gadis ORC 3. Jaime Núñez’s Raygrass III, which sails for the Club Marítimo Carrumeiro, finished fourth in this last race, but managed to secure victory in the 34th Trofeo Príncipe de Asturias with a three-point lead over Luis Suárez’s Maracana I from Vigo, who was second. Behind, the third place was finally for the local Fend-La-Bise of Jean Claude Serrade. The last victory up for grabs in this class was awarded to Jacobo Solorzano’s Bunda, fifth overall.

Albarellos, Bombastic and Salseiro, winners in Volvo Autesa ORC 4-5, Engel & Völkers ORC Open and SH Robotic ORC Open Extra

Meanwhile, on the ORC 4-5 and Open race course, the Regatta Committee gave the start for a new coastal regatta, but the wind did not blow strongly enough and only the Open Extra division managed to finish the course.

Thus, the winner in the Volvo Autesa ORC 4-5 category is the local Albarellos of Fernando Rey, ahead of the two representatives of the Club Náutico Beluso: the Santiago Roma Rías Baixas and the Chispa Nejra of José Rey, second and third respectively.

In Engel & Völkers ORC Open, a category in which the inclusive boat Axa Seguros from the Monte Real Adapted Sailing School participated, with the support of the insurer and the Department of Social Policy of the Xunta de Galicia, the victory was won this year the Bombastic of the MRCYB of César Casqueiro ahead of the representative of the RCNV skippered by Antonio Gaona, the Piccola, and of the Lacazán of Mariano Benavente, who also sails under the banner of the Baion club.

In SH Robotic ORC Open Extra, the winner of the Prince of Asturias Trophy is Manuel Blanco’s Salseiro, from the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña. Behind, the Jandrocho Team of the Club Náutico San Adrián with Roberto Reboredo in front finished second while the Fresgarrido of Ernesto Pérez, who achieved the partial victory of the day, was third overall.

In Storax Clásicos, victory for Miña Miniña

Only the Miña Miniña was able to complete the five-mile coastal course today in the Storax Clásico class. The AGABACE ship skippered by Fabián Garrido sentenced the general and proclaimed itself the winner of the appointment jointly organized by Monte Real and the Naval Military School. Xosé Avelino Ochoa’s Sara O was finally second overall and Javier Alonso’s Papaleisso completed the podium in third position.
Bribon 500 Movistar and Stella, winners in Infinitus Rent 6m Classics and 6m Open

Difficult day in the regatta field of the Infinitus Rent 6m fleet. The wind did not come to its appointment in the bay today and the Regatta Committee could not give the Warning signal for any of the two scheduled races, so yesterday’s results became final.

In the Classics division, victory therefore went to the Bribon 500 Movistar of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, skippered on this occasion by Pedro Campos in the absence of King Juan Carlos. The Campos crew did not give their rivals a chance, scoring the two victories up for grabs yesterday, so the current world and European champion of the class was proclaimed the winner of the Prince of Asturias ahead of Mauricio Sánchez Bella’s Titia and Aida de Francisco Botas, second and third respectively.
On the other hand, the victory in the Open division went to Stella de Violeta Álvarez, also from the RCNS, with a first and second place in her locker. Behind, just one point behind Álvarez’s team, Patrik Monteiro’s Seljm seals the championship in second position and Eugenio Galdón’s Maybe XIV closes the final podium in third place.

Javier de la Gándara wins in Solventis J80 with Okofen

New victory for Javier de la Gándara in the waters of Baiona. Okofen, who started the competition in third place overall, climbed to the top of the podium yesterday by sealing a perfect second day with three partial victories. Today, Sunday, the lack of wind prevented the scheduled tests from being held, so the team led by de la Gándara was proclaimed the winner of the thirty-fourth edition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy. Behind, the second place was definitively occupied by Miudo de Diogo Costa and third place was finished by Pazo de Cea de Cristina González Cominges. The three teams representing the MRCYB.

Victory for the HELLO! Fashion at the prestigious ¡HOLA! Ladies Cup

There was also no testing today for the fleet of the HELLO! Ladies Cup, resulting in the HELLO! Fashion by Pilar Casares after leading the general classification from the first day of the regatta. From behind, the podium of the prestigious women’s competition was completed by HELLO! Serralleiras from the Portuguese crew led by Marta Ramada in second place – who defended the victory of the two previous editions – and the HELLO! Silleiro by Anna Sole Dolcet in the third drawer.

With this, there are now 23 editions in which the Monte Real Club de Yates and ¡HOLA! They reaffirm their commitment to giving visibility to women in a sport that, to this day, continues to be predominantly male.

The awards ceremony, final touch for the 34th Prince of Asturias Trophy

At 6:00 p.m., the awards ceremony for the 34th Prince of Asturias Trophy was held in the village of Monte Real, putting an end to a new edition of one of the most important cruising sailing events at a national level.

In addition to awarding the winners of the respective categories, during the trophy ceremony the club also presented the special Mary Woodward award for the best J80 of the season, which went to Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen; the Count of Barcelona Juan de Borbón award for the best ship with a Portuguese crew, which went to the Yess Too of the Portuguese Rui Ramada; and the Juan Sebastián Elcano space trophy to the winners of the ¡HOLA! Ladies Cup, the HELLO! Fashion by Pilar Casares. For its part, the inclusive ship AXA Seguros, in which the students of the Juan María de Nigrán Center sail, also received a special mention at the closing ceremony.
