Monte Real bets on women’s sailing

  • The Monte Real Club de Yates launches a campaign to promote the presence of women in the nautical competitions of its 2018 sports calendar
  • One of the measures included in the plan foresees applying discounts of up to 50 percent in the registration fees of the different regattas
  • Next year, Monte Real will also organize an exclusive competition for women, the Ladies Cup , within the framework of the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy

The prominence that women have been acquiring in the world of sailing over the last few years is indisputable. Among the most recent milestones are the participation, last year, in the Volvo Ocean Race , run by an all-female team, the SCA Team ; and the fact that this year the tour of the world is being held in stages, one of the toughest and most demanding competitions today, with a total of 18 women.

Despite everything, the figures continue to show notable differences between men and women. In the Copa del Rey disputed this year, we only saw one team with a crew made up exclusively of women and only 5 skippered any of the 126 participating boats.

Given this reality, it is clear that “There is still a lot to do to achieve equality between men and women in the world of sailing”, as affirmed by the vice-commodore of the Monte Real Yacht Club, Genoveva Pereiro, who believes “that all clubs should get more involved in promoting women’s sailing, both in their schools and in the competitions they organize”.

In the case of Monte Real , “there is also a lot of work to be done,” acknowledges Pereiro. The figures of the club from Baiona are an extensible reflection to many other nautical entities in which sailing continues to be a markedly masculine field. At present, only 15 percent of the participants in the different events of Monte Real are women, and although in its Sailing School the percentage rises somewhat more, up to 36 percent, the separation between men is still very notable. and women.

Hence, the historic club has proposed, for 2018, to promote “women’s sailing”, launching a campaign to promote the presence of women in the nautical competitions included in its sports calendar.

“Encouraging the participation of female crews, whether exclusively or not, and for there to be more boats skippered by women, is one more way of betting on sport and women, and it is the path we have set out to follow,” says the vice-commodore of Mount Royal.

The club will launch the first actions to try to make this turn around from 2018, in each and every one of the nautical competitions that it organizes. Among other measures, still pending to specify, it will apply discounts of up to 50 percent in the registration fees of the regattas when the skipper of the boat is a woman. In addition, the participation of women in the different courses and training initiatives of the club will be promoted, in which they will be able to benefit from lower prices.

In addition, in 2018 Monte Real will once again organize, within the framework of the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy, the Ladies Cup , an exclusively female competition in which, on board 6 club boats, 36 sailors from different parts of Spain and Portugal.

Gándara and Yáñez, first leaders of the AXA J80 Autumn League

· Javier de la Gándara and Fernando Yáñez placed the Okofen and Cansino crews at the top of the AXA J80 Autumn League standings

· On a day complicated by the instability of the wind, the one-design fleet was able to compete in two regattas in the waters of the Bay of Baiona

· The autumn competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and AXA Seguros will return in November with the third day of tests

Baiona, October 28, 2017.- After the appointment was canceled fifteen days ago due to lack of wind, this Saturday the first day of the AXA J80 Autumn League could be held in Baiona, the competition that puts an end to the 2017 sports calendar of the Monte Real Yacht Club .

The regatta committee, with Fernando Giraldo at the helm, designed a test field for the fleet inside the bay to start the three tasks planned in the program, although only two could finally be completed due to the wind.

The fleet of thirteen one-designs that competed for the league had to face a very shifty and unstable wind, which complicated navigation and left them stalled on several occasions. Okofen, skippered by Javier de la Gándara, was the one that knew how to get the best out of the situation, crossing the finish line first on both occasions.

It completed the first rounds, designed with a windward-leeward structure, with a north-northwesterly wind that moved between 7 and 10 knots, sometimes falling to 4 and causing several calms. The third test began with a good beat, but when the sailboats went down astern, the wind calmed down, finally disappeared and the committee decided to cancel.

Behind Okofen, in the lead with 2 points, Cansino de Fernándo Yáñez and Ferralemes de Enrique Porto occupy second and third place on the provisional podium, with 4 and 7 points respectively. It is followed by Namasté by Luis de Mira, Meltemi by Guillermo Blanco and Luna Nueva by Juan Luis Tuero.

The Monto by Bernardo Macedo, the Marías-Casas do Telhado by Manuel María Cunha, the Pazo de Cea by María Campos, La Galera by Diego Carral, the Cormorán II by Yago González, the SND Cormorán by Francisco Martínez and the Miudo by Storax by Alfonso Leite close the classification.

The AXA J80 Autumn League returns on Sunday, November 12 with the third day of tests, also planned in the Bay of Baiona starting at noon.

De la Gándara leads Okofen to victory in the AXA J80 Autumn League

  • The historic sailor from Vigo returned on the last day of the trophy to snatch the podium from Cansino de Nano Yáñez who was leading the standings and had to settle for second place
  • Enrique Porto’s Ferralemes was the best boat in the last three races held this afternoon in Baiona and got onto the championship podium with a meritorious third place
  • The Monte Real Club de Yates thus puts an end to its 2017 sports season and is now preparing for 2018 in which it will organize the Spanish J80 Championship

Baiona, November 25, 2017.- Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen signed this afternoon in Baiona the closing of a spectacular regatta season with victory in the AXA J80 Autumn League, a triumph that adds to those achieved this year in the Winter League, the Conde de Gondomar and the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy, in which it also won the title of best J80 boat of the season.

At 58 years old, the historic sailor from Vigo continues to show that what he had, he retained, and that on the water, aboard a J80, there are very few skippers capable of facing him. In this last edition of the autumn one-design league, the commodore of Monte Real, Nano Yáñez, tried it, who managed to overtake Okofen on the penultimate day, but finally had to settle for a meritorious second place.

Okofen and Cansino were, without a doubt, the two standout yachts in the AXA J80 Autumn League, a competition that finished just one point behind each other, taking gold and silver respectively. Enrique Porto’s Ferralemes, the best boat in the last three races held this afternoon in Baiona, maintained the third position that it had held since the previous stage and won bronze in the league.

El Marías – Houses of the Roof by Manuel María Cunha; Luis de Mira’s Namasté , skippered today by Javier Torroja, and Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. complete the ranking of Meltemi by Guillermo Blanco, the Pazo de Cea de María Campos, which had Willy Camaño today at the cane; the Miudo by Storax crewed by coaches and students from the Monte Real Sailing School; the Mondo by Bernardo Macedo; the Cormorant II by Yago González-Robatto; Diego Carral ‘s Gallery and the SND Cormorant by Francisco J. Martínez.

After the dispute in the water, the facilities of the Monte Real Club de Yates, the organizing club of the championship, hosted the awards ceremony for the winners. A fraternization dinner was held, attended by the participating crews, members of the club’s board of directors and representatives of AXA Seguros, sponsor of the competition, with the director of the AXA Foundation, Josep Alfonso, at the head.

With the AXA J80 Autumn League, the Monte Real Club de Yates puts an end to its 2017 sports season, which included the celebration of 11 trophies, two of them specific to the J80 class. The monotypes, in charge of closing the current year, will once again play a major role in 2018, opening the season with the Winter League and with the celebration of the Spanish Championship of the class, which Monte Real will organize, by delegation of the Spanish Sailing Federation, from April 27 to May 1.

Baiona crowns the winners of the AXA J80 Autumn League

  • The last three regattas to be held this Saturday in Baiona will reveal the names of the winners of the autumn competition at Monte Real Club de Yates
  • The Cansino of the commodore of the Baionese club Nano Yáñez, the Okofen of Javier de la Gándara and the Ferralemes of Enrique Porto are leaders in the classification
  • The awards ceremony will be held once the dispute on the water is over as part of a fraternization dinner attended by the entire J80 fleet.

Baiona crowns this Saturday the winners of the AXA J80 Autumn League, the one-design competition that has been held since last October in the bay of Baiona under the organization Monte Real Club de Yates and the sponsorship of AXA Seguros.

After the previous three days, tomorrow the fourth and final stage will be held, with a final program of three windward-leeward routes starting at three in the afternoon.

The crew of the Cansino , skippered by the commodore of the Monte Real Yacht Club, Nano Yáñez, is in the lead after having snatched the leadership from Okofen , who suffered on the last day due to the absence of their leader Javier de la Gándara.

Both sailboats, separated by three points in the general classification, will compete for the top drawers with Enrique Porto’s Ferralemes , who is just two points behind them.

We must not lose sight of Luis de Mira’s Namasté and Manuel María Cunha’s Marías-Casas do Telhado on the water either, who stood out in the last regattas in Baiona and are clear contenders for one of the positions on the winners’ podium. .

They are followed in the classification, although at a greater distance, by the Meltemi , the Luna Nueva , the Pazo de Cea , the Mondo , La Galera and the Cormoran II . The Miudo by Storax and the SND Cormorán close the list, with a race less disputed than the rest of the boats.

The last tests of the AXA J80 Autumn League will begin at three in the afternoon in the bay of Baiona, and if the forecasts are met, the wind will not be an impediment to its celebration, since it will blow quite strongly.

Once the competition in the water is over, the facilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club will host the awards ceremony for the winners, within the framework of a fellowship dinner in which sailors and sponsors will participate.

Monte Real expands its range of activities for 2018

  • The Monte Real Yacht Club will expand its range of training and leisure activities in 2018 with the launch of the “Team Sailing” program
  • Living the experience of a regatta, participating in a competition to get to know the Cíes Islands or discover Baiona by sailboat are some of the recreational proposals
  • Coaching workshops for companies, team building sessions to improve performance or workshops to optimize work complete the club’s offer

The Monte Real Club de Yates will once again be, in 2018, one of the Spanish yacht clubs with the greatest activity in its facilities, both sports, training and leisure. To its calendar for next year, in which there are already 14 competitions scheduled, some as important as the Conde de Gondomar Trophy, the Prince of Asturias Trophy, the Spanish J80 Championship or the international Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, we must add Now a new offer of activities.

This is the “Team Sailing” program, with which the Baionese club seeks to expand the possibilities offered by the world of sailing beyond recreational sailing or participation in regattas. Through six different proposals, Monte Real aims to approach sectors not directly related to sailing, to make them aware of all the benefits that it can offer them, both personally and professionally.

Living the experience of a regatta, participating in a competition to get to know the Cíes Islands or discover Baiona by sailboat are the three proposals of the “Team sailing” program that are more playful in nature. The other half of the offer is based on training elements closely related to coaching, including workshops for companies, team building sessions to improve performance or workshops to optimize teamwork.

The proposals of the TEAM SAILING program are:

REGATTA EXPERIENCE

The “Regata Experience” activity allows a team to live the experience of a nautical competition, disputing a regatta with co-workers in one of the most beautiful places on the Atlantic coast, the fishing village of Baiona.

RACE TO CIES

With the “Race to Cíes” initiative, you will enjoy the emotion of a regatta while visiting one of the most beautiful places on the planet and the only marine national park in Spain, the Cíes Islands.

DISCOVERING BAIONA

As its name suggests, “Discovering Baiona” will allow you to discover the beauty of one of the most beautiful towns in Galicia, Baiona, and to do so, moreover, not only from land, but also from the sea, sailing aboard a sailboat.

SKIPPER COACH

The skipper, skipper of the boat, is taken as an example of leadership in the “Skipper Coach” training activity, in which simple but high-impact tools are put at the service of the attendees to improve the performance of teams and the working environment within companies.

DEFINING OUR COURSE

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, form a team” is the motto of the “Defining our course” workshop, in which attendees, through a practical and inspiring approach, will analyze the innovations in their sector and redefine their personal course and that of their company, aligning them towards a progressive improvement.

TIME MANAGEMENT

The “Time management” proposal is mainly aimed at company managers who want to refocus their use of time, since through it they will be able to acquire practical tools that are easy to apply that will have a positive impact on their performance and that of their teams. .

Fernando Yáñez’s “Cansino” rises to the top of the AXA J80 Autumn League

  • The sailboat skippered by the commodore of the Monte Real Club de Yates completed two good tests this Sunday in Baiona and is placed at the head of the trophy
  • Manuel María Cunha’s Marías-Casas do Telhado and Luis de Mira’s Namasté were the winners of the heats disputed this afternoon in the bay
  • Okofen, who were leading the general standings, noted the absence of Javier de la Gándara, who did not dribble this Sunday and fell to second position.

The commodore of the Monte Real Club de Yates, Fernando Yáñez, managed to lift Cansino this Sunday to the top of the general classification of the AXA J80 Autumn League, which experienced its penultimate test day today in Baiona.

After signing two second places in the two disputed regattas, Yáñez’s boat managed to overtake Okofen , which had been in the lead from previous days, but this afternoon noted the absence of its leader, the historic Javier de la Gándara. Accustomed to achieving first positions, Okofen could only sign a fourth and fifth place today and was relegated to the second drawer of the provisional podium.

The winners of the third and penultimate round of the AXA J80 Autumn League were Marías-Casas do Telhado , owned by Manuel María Cunha; and the Namaste by Luis de Mira. They were the first to cross the finish line on the two windward-leeward courses that the regatta committee was able to start on a very complicated afternoon due to the low wind that was recorded in the bay of Baiona.

Thus, and waiting for what happens on the last day of testing, Cansino , Okofen and Ferralemes would take the gold, silver and bronze of the competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros.

In fourth position, just three points from getting on the podium, is Namasté , followed by Marías , Meltemi , and Luna Nueva . Pazo de Cea , Mondo , La Galera and Cormoran II follow in the classification followed by Miudo by Storax and SND Cormorán , with one less test than the rest of the boats.

The AXA J80 Autumn League will end on November 25 with the last day of testing, for which three new windward-leeward tasks are planned in the Bay of Baiona. Once the competition is over, the Monte Real Club de Yates will host the awards ceremony for the winners, putting an end to their 2017 sports season.

“BOSCH SERVICE SOLUTIONS” WINNER OF THE LEXUS BREOGAN CUP IN BAIONA

  • The Vanguard Trophy for teams was won by the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, with the second being the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña
  • A day with stable winds from the northwest of 15 knots led to the highlight of the regatta against the clock, which after more than 20 years returned to Baiona waters
  • Ramón Ojea from Vigo achieved victory in the Lexus Breogan, ahead of Juan Luis Tuero from Oviedo with the “New Moon” and Luis de Mira from Pontevedra with “Namaste” who won the bronze

“Bosch Service Solutions” from the Club Marítimo de Canido, skippered by Ramón Ojea, was proclaimed the absolute winner of the Lexus Breogán Cup, which, through the system against the clock, was organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona within Abanca Week. The Marítimo de Canido boat carried out an impeccable regatta, taking victory in this modality that had not been held in the waters of the Bayonne estuary for more than twenty years. In the trophy for clubs, which had at stake the valuable Vanguard Trophy consisting of a set of six regatta beacons for the winning club, first place went to Monte Real with the boats “La Luna Nueva” owned by Asturian Juan Luis Tuero and “Namaste” by Luis de Mira, being the silver for the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, with “La Galera” by Joaquin Cobelo and “Meltemi” by Guillermo Blanco.

A day in the Baiona estuary with simply spectacular conditions: stable winds of 12 to 15 knots from the northwest with hardly any waves on the sea and a route that, given the speed reached by the boats, seemed to us to be “short”. The fleet left the center of the Baiona estuary, to go later to turn two beacons (the last one in the lower Carallones) to leave the estuary and do it in the La Negra estuary and return to Baiona. First the slowest boats came out in a cascade, to make it the “Figaro”, then the fastest with the J80 among them and as dessert the ORC, closing the list the one with the longest and fastest length and which would be the winner in the end. : the “Bosch Service Solutions”. Also noteworthy was the excellent regatta by Juan Luis Tuero from Oviedo, who won silver, ahead of “Namaste” by only 12 seconds. Precisely these two boats gave Monte Real the sirloin of the prizes, the Vanguard Trophy, for its Sailing School with a really important value.

Among the Figaros, the excellent regatta of Carlos Hernández’s “Silleiro” that obtained the prize in its class. Another of the boats with a good level, “La Galera” by Joaquin Cobelo of the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, which was at the top of the classification, as well as the “Albarellos” by Fernando Rey of the Portonovo Nautical Club, which lost much to end your chances of entering the top ten. With the celebration of this Lexus Breogán Cup, sailing concludes in the Abanca Week, which only has the Ence Iberian Cup of Olympic Rowing pending, which, with the participation of 200 boats from Spain and Portugal, will take place in the waters of the estuary of Pontevedra, based in Marín, on November 25.

ABANCA Week arrives in Baiona with Ibernautica and the Lexus Breogán Cup

  • The Ibernautical congress will include presentations on sustainability in the world of nautical tourism and will be held at the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Parador de Turismo de Baiona, as part of the ABANCA Week
  • On Saturday the historic “against the clock” regattas return to the Monte Real Club de Yates with the Lexus Breogan Cup

Baiona (Pontevedra). – This morning the ABANCA Week cycles that will take place in Villa de la Pinta were presented at the facilities of the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona: first Ibernautica, the congress on the sustainability of nautical tourism that will take place this Thursday and Friday at the Parador de Turismo, and on Saturday the Lexus Breogán Cup, a cruise regatta based on the time trial system, which made Monte Real fashionable in Spain at the beginning of the 1990s, and which had a great impact in Spanish sailing for its originality in the time compensation system. The event was presided over by José Luis Álvarez, president of Monte Real, who was accompanied by the Baiona councilor for sports, as well as sponsors of these cycles immersed in the ABANCA Week, and organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club and the Maritime Club of Vigo.

Ibernautica has the support of the Tourism Office of the Xunta de Galicia, as well as the Baiona City Council, ABANCA, Ronáutica Marinas, Vanguard Marine, Coca Cola and Lexus, as well as the Gastronomy Academies of Galicia and the Caminos de Santiago, the Tourist Cluster of Galicia, ANEM, the CEACNA and Paradores de Turismo among other institutions. It is chaired by Francisco García de Bobadilla, who was the head of Tourism in Galicia, as well as president of Paradores, and has the Asturian Víctor Montero, considered one of the most outstanding specialists in nautical congresses at a national level, as director.

The Secretary General of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alberto López-Asenjo García, will be the one who will deliver the first conference on Ibernautics at eleven o’clock on Thursday morning at the Parador de Turismo de Baiona. Half an hour before, the Secretary of State himself, together with other authorities, will inaugurate the sessions that will include professionals of the highest level in all the subjects to be discussed, which will take place throughout Thursday and Friday, and will be closed by the Vice President of the Xunta from Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, at half past one on Friday afternoon.

A competition framed within the ABANCA Week is scheduled for Saturday, which was theoretically the closing event, but after the postponement of the Ence Iberian Cup of Olympic Rowing for November 25 in Marín, it will be the penultimate appointment. The Lexus Breogán Cup will start at three in the afternoon, and will include the participation of ORC cruisers, among which the “Bosch Service Solutions” with Ramón Ojea a la caña, one of the most powerful boats in northwestern Spain, as well as a large fleet of J80s and Figaros. The system used is the “against the clock”, with which the compensation of times will be given from the start, so that once the fleet starts, it will compete in real time. At stake, the Vanguard Marine Trophy for the winning club (teams of two boats), consisting of a set of Vanguard beacons valued at several thousand euros for the corresponding Sailing School.

France and Portugal know the MRCYB Adapted Sailing School

A group of representatives from the Finistère Handisport Départemental Committee (France) and the Alto Minho Intermunicipal Community (Portugal) visited the Monte Real Yacht Club today to see first-hand our Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities.

Their objective was to see how the school was born, what its objectives are and how we work, since, as they told us, we are a reference for them when it comes to bringing sailing closer to people with all kinds of disabilities.

During the meeting we had with them and the visit to the club, we told them how these 5 years of intense work have been to turn the school into what it is today, and we showed them what our facilities are like, deserving of recognition for the elimination of architectural barriers.

Appointment with the J80 this Saturday in Baiona

· The fleet that competes in the AXA J80 Autumn League will try to open the championship after a blank first day due to lack of wind

· The regatta committee has prepared three batons for the monotypes that will be disputed in real time starting at three in the afternoon

· The competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros will once again be held in the waters of the Bay of Baiona

Baiona, October 27, 2017.- Baiona hosts this Saturday the second day of the AXA J80 Autumn League, a competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros and which takes place in a league format during the months of October and November.

After a blank first stage, in which the sailboats were unable to race due to lack of wind, the one-design fleet returns to the water this weekend with the intention of opening the championship and starting to design the winners’ podium.

The Regatta Committee, with Fernando Giraldo at the helm, will prepare a windward/leeward course for the fleet, with two tacks and two sterns, which the J80s must complete up to three times if the weather permits.

As of today, the forecasts indicate that the wind will blow with sufficient intensity to dispute the scheduled tests, so that the public will be able to enjoy sailing the sailboats again from three in the afternoon in the bay of Baiona.

The Okofen by Javier de la Gándara, the Namasté by Luis de Mira, the Luna Nueva by Juan Luis Tuero, the Miudo by Storax by Afonso Leite, the Pazo de Cea by María Campos or the Cansino by Fernando Yáñez will be some of the boats that We’ll see on the water.

The appointment will coincide with another of the events organized by Monte Real this weekend, the European nautical tourism congress Galicia Atlantic Destination , which brings together twenty nautical clubs and associations from all over Europe to discuss the current and future challenges of the sector.

Nautical tourism, under discussion at the Galicia Atlantic Destination

· Representatives of nautical clubs and associations from all over Europe debated this Friday in Baiona on the situation and future challenges of the sector

· The participants agreed to point out the great potential of Galicia to attract visitors from the old continent and pointed out possible improvement actions

· The congress travels to the Arousa estuary tomorrow, Saturday, to take a tour of the estuary before returning to Baiona for its closing ceremony

Baiona, October 27, 2017.- The Parador Nacional de Baiona hosted this Friday the first day of the European nautical tourism congress Galicia, Atlantic Destination , in which representatives of twenty nautical clubs and associations from the old continent discuss the situation and future challenges of the sector.

In the inaugural session, which included several presentations, round tables and workshops, the attendees highlighted the improvements registered in the ports and marinas of Galicia over the last few years, and agreed to point out the great potential that the community has to attract visitors from all over Europe.

But not everything was praise, since some problems were also put on the table, mainly related to the language and air connections. The difficulties in reaching Galicia on direct flights from many of the countries of origin of possible transits and the fact that in some marinas the staff barely speak English were noted.

Other improvement actions that were presented at the congress have an impact on the need to implement complementary infrastructures and services for ports and marinas; and carry out a better dissemination of tourist proposals in order to reach the greatest number of people possible.

Europe in the spotlight

If the authorities in charge of opening the Galicia agreed on something, Atlantic Destination was the need to promote the great potential of Galicia’s nautical tourism throughout Europe, with the aim of turning it into a place of reference for sailors.

The director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, in charge of inaugurating the Galicia, Atlantic Destination , pointed to the old continent as one of the main markets with which Galicia has to work, since, as he assured, 8 out of 10 boats that navigate the Galician estuaries come from different European countries.

The president of Portos de Galicia, José Juan Durán, also influenced this idea, speaking of the loyalty of the traffic they receive from Europe as one of the objectives of his department. “Galicia – he said- has achieved that the nautical facilities receive a greater number of visitors each year, and the effort must now focus on more qualitative than quantitative aspects”.

On behalf of the Monte Real Yacht Club, which organizes the event in collaboration with Turismo de Galicia, Portos de Galicia and the Baiona city council, its president, José Luis Álvarez, intervened. In his speech he invited all the attendees to get to know the attractions of our coast, among which he highlighted the fact of having “navigable estuaries throughout the year, a strategic position for transits, and unparalleled people, culture and gastronomy”.

Mini-cruises through the estuaries and strategies for regional nautical development

The representatives of the twenty nautical clubs and associations from all over Europe that attend the Galicia, Atlantic Destination were able to learn first-hand about two of the proposals that seek to promote nautical tourism in Galicia: the mini-cruises through the estuaries and the European Ecodestin project.

The president of the Galician Association of Nautical Activities (Agan +), Manuel Soliño, was in charge of explaining the mini-cruises through the estuaries. They are a series of navigation itineraries that link various routes with sectors of tourist attraction such as culture, heritage or oenology. The offer includes six routes through the Galician estuaries by ferry-catamaran or sailboat, with tours of areas such as the Arousa estuary, the Atlantic Islands or the fishing villages of the Vigo estuary, among others.

The Ecodestín project, presented by the manager of Estratexia Plus, Antonio Monteagudo, follows the example of development of the fjords in Norway and seeks to make the territory more attractive by promoting and developing the cultural heritage linked to the estuaries, rivers and coast of the Galicia Euroregion – North of Portugal. With European funds, the ports will be able to increase their transit docking capacity, make them more accessible and reinforce them with technology.

The congress moves tomorrow to the Arousa estuary

After the opening day held this Friday at the Parador Nacional de Baiona, the Galicia, Atlantic Destination will travel to the Arousa area tomorrow for a tour of the estuary.

The visitors, from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom, will embark at the port of Cabo de Cruz, in Boiro, to sail to the island of Sálvora, included in the Maritime-Terrestrial Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia.

The islands of Noro and Rúa, the archipelago of Guidoiro, and the islands of Areoso and Arousa will be some of the other points that will be visited on the second and last day of the congress. A tourist train route through Vilanova de Arousa and a visit to the Valle Inclán House Museum will put an end to the meeting of European nautical clubs and associations.
