NOTICE OF RACE COMMUNICA TROPHY

 

ORGANIZATION

The Comunica Trophy will be organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates (MRCYB), with the collaboration of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo and Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo. There will be two departures, from the Ría de Vigo and from the Ría de Pontevedra.

 

PLACE AND DATES

It will be held in the waters of the Ría de Vigo, Ría de Pontevedra and Baiona Bay on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

 

RULES

The Regatta will be run according to the provisions in force of the following regulations:

a) The “rules” as defined in the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 – 2020 (RRS).
b) The 2018 Cruise Technical Regulation and its annexes (RTC).
c) Respective regulations with the adaptations made by the MRCYB for this regatta of the J80 and figaros one-design classes.
d) The IMS and ORC 2018 Regulations.
e) World Sailing Special Rules for Offshore Regattas, Category 4 (ORC).
f) This Announcement of Race.
g) The Sailing Instructions, which may modify any of the previous sections.

PARTICIPANTS

Participation in this regatta is limited to boats with an ORC International or Club certificate valid for 2018, whose GPH is less than 770 s/mile, as well as the J80 and Figaro monotypes.

Groups and Classes:

An ORC group is established that will be divided into classes, as well as those of the different monotypes:

Cruise (*) ORC
Special Open (**) ORC Non-competitive
J80 class J80 monotypes
Figaro Class (***) Figaro Monotypes

(*) In ORC, in view of the registrations made and as soon as their effective participation in the regatta is verified, the Regatta Committee and Organizing Committee will establish the classes and cuts of the same seeking the greatest possible equity, not admitting claims about.

(**) In the Special Open Class, only authentically No Level boats will be admitted in the classes indicated in (*) and that do not have a minimum competitive capacity despite their size and GPH, as well as especially slow designs, very old, etc.

– In any case, the Regatta Committee and the Organizing Committee of the regatta will have the power to include, at their discretion, in the Open Class the boats they deem appropriate, not admitting claims in this regard.

(***) The Figaros, if they do not achieve the minimum number of 3 to compete as a one design, will race in ORC with an estimated GPH, no claims being accepted in this regard.

To form a class, there must be a minimum of 5 registered (except in Figaros, which will be a minimum of 3).

The monotypes will compulsorily compete on the route from the Ria de Vigo. And they will rank only in their class.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Participants must comply with the eligibility conditions reflected in Regulation 19 of World Sailing and the prescriptions of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation related to said regulation.

Participants of nationality or legal residence in Spain must be in possession of the sports federation license for 2018.

 

ADVERTISING

Participants may display advertising in accordance with the provisions of World Sailing Regulation 20 and the FGVELA Advertising and Competition Regulations.

In accordance with World Sailing Regulation 20, participants may be required to display advertising on the forward 20% of the hull on each side of the boat and on the sides of the boom, as well as possible advertising pennants on the backstay of each boat. All this would be provided at the MRCYB race office (*) once your registration is confirmed.

(*) Also on Saturday the 21st, at the RCN Vigo and RCN Sanxenxo regatta offices, the regatta instructions and stickers will be handed out.

Modifications to the stickers provided by the organizing committee are not allowed. Violation of this IR will entail a penalty of 2 places in the test.

The Monte Real Club de Yates reserves the right to demand the elimination or substitution of any type of advertising, message or image displayed during the celebration of the event of the boats or the equipment of their crew members, which does not comply with the moral and ethical standards of general acceptance (Regulation 20 of the World Sailing) or contravene the interests of the organizing club. This includes holding races on the regatta course, at the club’s facilities or while at the regatta committee’s disposal.

The owner or skipper of the boat with advertising will be asked to indicate or show the type of advertising that will be displayed during the celebration of the regatta, for the approval of the organizing committee.

The participating owners and crews grant their authorization to the MRCYB so that any photograph, image or video of people or boats taken during the days of the regatta may be published in any medium, such as television advertisements, editorial comments, information, advertising etc.

 

REGISTRATIONS AND BONUSES

The inscriptions will necessarily be formalized in the official form. (The same that accompanies this announcement and/or is also available at www.mrcyb.es).

Registration will be FREE. In addition, the participating vessels will have:

1. 50% discount on the cost of registration for the Repsol Trophy to be held on April 28 and 29 and May 1.

2. A boat participating in each and every one of the following regattas:

 Communicate Trophy
 Repsol Trophy
 Count of Gondomar Trophy

You will get free registration for the 33rd Prince of Asturias Trophy.

The registration must be submitted or submitted with the following documentation:
• Registration form duly covered and signed.
• Photocopy of the updated licenses of all the crew members of the ship.
• For foreign athletes who do not have a federative license or athlete’s medical insurance that insures them in the event of an accident, they must prove that they have insurance against accidents and illness valid in Spain.
• Valid ORC measurement certificate (ORC fleet only).
• Class Association annual fee payment certificate (J80).
• Photocopy of civil liability insurance and damage to third parties for a minimum coverage of €336,556 and coverage for all crew members on board, and policy extension for participation in non-professional regattas.
• List of security elements (depending on whether ORC or Monotype) duly covered and signed.

The application for registration must have the approval of the Organizing Committee of the Monte Real Club de Yates.

Registration of Participants: Each owner or skipper must register and personally sign the registration form at the MRCYB regatta office (*) before 1:00 p.m. on April 21, 2018

The registration of a boat will not be accepted if, before the time indicated in paragraph 7.6, it does not present the documents specified in 7.3 at the regatta office (*) or does not have the approval of the organizing committee.

(*) On Saturday the 21st, at the RCN Vigo and RCN Sanxenxo regatta offices, participants will also be able to confirm registrations and will be given the Regatta Instructions and advertising stickers for the boats

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to admit registrations after the indicated date.

 

PROGRAM

After the awards ceremony, a Baiona – RCN Vigo – RCN Sanxenxo bus will leave for sailors who request it at the time of registration.

The sailing instructions will show the different courses that can be done for all or for the different classes if necessary.

Except for the Monotypes that will always leave from Vigo, the ships of the ORC fleet will be able to choose to leave from Sanxenxo or from Vigo.

 

INSPECTION AND MEASUREMENTS

Measurements and certificate and safety checks may be carried out by the measurement committee before and after the regatta.

 

PUNCTUATION

The Low Score System Appendix A4 of the RRV will apply.

 

COMPENSATION SYSTEM AND CLASSIFICATIONS

ORC rankings will be established according to one of the following compensation systems:

For the Classification of each version, North or East:
a) Composite route, and if not possible,

a.1) Applying the values specified in each certificate for Ocean PCS if the wind is stable.

a.2) Offshore OSN if there are large roles and oscillations in wind intensity.
And for the Joint Classification of both versions, GPH will be applied.
All this always at the discretion of the regatta official, not admitting claims in this regard.

Class classifications will be established (provided that the provisions of points 4.2. and 4.3 are met).

Monotype classes will only classify in real time.

 

SECURITY

The safety of the regatta is considered as Category 4 (ORC) in accordance with the Special Rules of Regatta of the World Sailing (for one-designs it will be a specific one adapted for it).

The participants undertake to carry on board, under their responsibility, the updated regulatory documentation of the boat, as well as the appropriate qualification for the handling of the boat and the navigation to be carried out.

 

AWARDS

The list of prizes will be exposed in the TOA and the club’s website in view of the participants and registered, before the start of the test.

 

BERTHS

The boats formally registered in this regatta and that do not belong to the MRCYB fleet, will have a free mooring or anchoring place (mooring under the exclusive responsibility of the owner or skipper) reserved in the MRCYB during the regatta days (April 21). The free mooring can be extended until Sunday May 6 if they participate in the Spring Regatta- REPSOL Trophy on April 28, 29 and May 1, 2018.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

The Race Committee will use channel 72 VHF for its communications during the events. All participating boats must carry on board an operational VHF radio receiver equipped with, at a minimum, VHF channels 09 (156.450Mhz), 16 (156.800Mhz) and 72 (156.610Mhz).

 

OFFICIAL SOCIAL ACTS

The awards ceremony will take place at the MRCYB on the same day as the regatta, Saturday April 21, where a sailor’s feast will also be served.

 

RESPONSIBILITY

All boats participating in the regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility.

The Monte Real Club de Yates, as the Organizing Committee or any other person or body involved in the organization of the event, rejects any responsibility for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to persons or things, both on land and at sea, as consequence of participating in the tests covered by this Notice of Race.

Attention is drawn to the Fundamental Rule 4 DECISION TO RACE, of part 1 of the RRS that establishes:

“It is the exclusive responsibility of a boat to decide whether to participate in a test or to continue racing”

Miudo and Okofen fight for the Infinitus Rent Trophy

 

· The sailboats owned by Portuguese Afonso Leite and Javier de la Gándara from Vigo were placed leaders of the competition today tied on points, making Virazón de Miguel Lago, who was in the lead, fall to third position

· With several false starts and a general call on the water, the nervousness of a fleet that sees how the competition is approaching its end and tries to give everything to sneak into the positions of honor was felt this afternoon

· The entry into play of a discard allowed the sailboats to eliminate their worst result to date and left the intermediate positions of the classification very tight for the last two days to be played in March

 

Afonso Leite’s Miudo and Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen were placed leaders of the Infinitus Rent Trophy today after the celebration of the fourth round of the J80 competition that the Monte Real Club de Yates has been holding since the beginning of the year. Tied on 13 points at the top of the standings, Miudo and Okofen dropped Miguel Lago’s Virazón to third position, which was in the lead and remains, despite losing the lead, one of the clearest competitors for the trophy gold.

With several false starts and a general call, the nervousness of a fleet that sees how the competition is approaching its end, and tries to give everything to sneak into the positions of honor was palpable on the water this afternoon. Today’s was also an important day due to the entry into play of a discard, which allowed each sailboat to eliminate its worst result so far, changing the ranking quite a bit.

Although the forecasts announced a difficult day, with little wind for navigation, it finally remained quite stable, and with an average of 8 knots it allowed the fleet to dispute the three scheduled tasks. In the first, Guillermo Blanco’s Meltemi, from the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña, won; in the second, the Ferralemes, by Enrique Porto, from Monte Real; and in the third the Portuguese Miudo, from the We Do Sailing club.

With these results and with the discard coming into play, the classification, which Virazón had been leading, changed a lot and practically all the crews changed position. The provisional podium is currently occupied by Miudo, Okofen and Virazón, who are first, second and third respectively.

Fourth place is occupied, with 28 points, by Cansino, by Fernando Yáñez; and in fifth and sixth position are Guillermo Blanco’s Meltemi, with 31 points, and Luis de Mira’s Namasté, with 34. In the intermediate boxes, the short distance that separates a large part of the fleet predicts an exciting end to a trophy to which two new J80s were added today, Javier Martínez Valente’s Cunichán; and the Boi de Canto of the vice-commodore of Monte Real, Genoveva Pereiro.

Once the halfway point of the competition has been passed, the Infinitus Rent Trophy has only two days left to define the winners’ podium. The next one will be held in fifteen days, on March 10, and the 24th will be the final day. For this last stage, a fellowship dinner is also scheduled at the facilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club and the awards ceremony for the winners.

The Monte Real Yacht Club celebrates the Arrival from the sea

 

· The Baionese club joins the celebration of the Fiesta de la Arribada for yet another year, programming parallel activities and offering discounts on moorings .

· Monte Real offers sailing trips lasting two hours to navigate the bay and watch the shows from the sea

· The club also offers 20% discounts on its moorings for all those who want to approach Baiona on their own boat

All the proposals will be on March 2, 3 and 4, coinciding with the main events of the Arribada 2018

 

Once again this year, the Monte Real Club de Yates joins the celebration of the Fiesta de la Arribada, organizing boat trips to enjoy sailing and the festivities of the fishing village, declared of international tourist interest.

On March 2, 3 and 4, coinciding with the twenty-third edition of the Fiesta de la Arribada, the Baiona club will offer anyone who wants it the chance to get on one of its sailboats to sail around the bay and see the shows from the sea, while enjoying the atmosphere of the villa.

Two-hour outings will be scheduled on the afternoons of Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th. On Friday the departures will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday there will be two sailing times, from 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

During the first hour, the crew, accompanied by a skipper from Monte Real, will be able to tour the Bay of Baiona and enjoy the thrill of sailing. In the second hour, the crew will be able to choose between continuing to sail through the waters of the bay or staying in the vicinity of Ribeira beach to see the shows of the Arribada or the atmosphere of the town.

All those interested in reserving a place or requesting more information can contact the club by sending an email to secretaria@mrcyb.es or by calling 986 385 000. The price of each trip is 25 euros per person (20 euros for MRCYB members) and a maximum of 6 people can go out on each boat.

In addition to departures on the club’s sailboats , the Monte Real Club de Yates will offer, during the days of the Arribada, discounts of 20 percent on its moorings , for all those who have their own boat and want to sail to Baiona.

Wizner and Ameneiro take the Baitra Trophy

 

· Martín Wizner from Vigo and Pedro Ameneiro from Pontevedra, current world champions under 17 in the 420 class, add a new success to their meteoric career

· The team made up of Africa Alonso and María Pérez Canal won the prize for the best female crew in the competition organized by Monte Real

· In the SUB 17 category, the winners were Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll from the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, who also came third overall.

· The winners received their prizes from the manager of Baitra, Juan Carlos González, a great promoter of grassroots sailing in Galicia

 

Martín Wizner from Vigo and Pedro Ameneiro from Pontevedra have just been proclaimed winners of the Baitra Dinghy Sailing Trophy, held this weekend in Baiona under the organization of the Monte Real Yacht Club and sponsored by the Baitra naval accessories company.

The current world champions under 17 in the 420 class achieved victory after signing two first places and one third in the three races held in the Saturday’s stage , results that were maintained after Sunday’s day, in which it was impossible to play any heat due to lack of wind.

With a highly refined technique and a great competitive spirit, the young sailors, from the 2001 generation, adapted to the Baiona course as the tests progressed. “The first heat was a bit difficult for us and we broke the crow’s feet but in the second, already accustomed to the roles, we picked up the pace and placed first, and in the third we were able to stay without problems” , Ameneiro assured at the end of the trophy.

Wizner and Ameneiro thus add a new success to their meteoric career, a resume that already includes, in addition to the under 17 world championship, the silver of the Athens European Open and the bronze of the 420 junior European Championships, held in Lago di Garda (Italy). Their next challenge, for which they are already preparing, is the Spanish Championship for the class, which will be held next March in Gran Canaria. “We are very excited -says Wizner- and this trophy has served as training to continue improving for the national”.

Therefore, the great trophy of the championship will go to the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, a cast replica of the Crab Battery that the winners received from Juan Carlos González, manager of Baitra and one of the great promoters of basic sailing in Galicia.

Another crew from the nautical ship from Vigo, the winner of the previous edition, formed by Jorge Enríquez and Guillermo Núñez, managed to climb to the second podium drawer; and the tandem Jacobo García-Antoni Ripoll, from the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, completed the winners’ podium by hanging the bronze medal.

In addition to finishing third overall, García and Ripoll won the prize for the best U-17 crew, beating Africa Alonso and María Pérez Canal, from the Vigo yacht club; and Yago Castro and Jaime Wizner, who were second and third respectively.

The girls took, in addition to the second prize in U-17, the award for the best female crew of the competition.

Present at the awards ceremony for the winners were the president and several directors of the Monte Real Club de Yates, as the organizing club; the manager of Baitra, as sponsor of the event; the mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal; the councilor for maritime activities of Baiona, Raúl Costas; and the president of the Galician Sailing Federation, Manuel Villaverde.

The next appointment with the regattas in Baiona will be the Infinitus Rent Trophy, for J80 monotypes, which next weekend celebrates its fourth day, with Miguel Lago’s Virazón at the head of the classification.

The World Cup players Wizner and Ameneiro take the lead in the Baitra Trophy

 

· The crew of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo won two of the three regattas held this afternoon in the bay of Baiona on the first day of the trophy

· The provisional podium is completed by Enríquez and Núñez, also from the Vigo yacht club, and García and Ripoll, from the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo

· The Baitra Trophy ends tomorrow, Sunday, with the second and last day of tests starting at eleven o’clock and the awards ceremony for the winners in the afternoon

 

The 420 world champions, Martín Wizner and Pedro Ameneiro, from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, lead the Baitra Trophy after the first day of tests, held this afternoon in Baiona under the organization of the Monte Real Yacht Club and the sponsorship of Baitra Naval Accessories.

The crew of junior world champions, both from the 2001 generation, started somewhat weakly, with a third position in the first round, but very soon they picked up the pace of the competition and sentenced the opening day with two first places and five points on the scoreboard .

Very close to them, just two points away, were their teammates, Guillermo Núñez and Jorge Enríquez, who went out into the water with great enthusiasm, ready to revalidate the victory achieved in the previous edition.

Completing the provisional podium, with 11 points in the standings, is the crew made up of Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll, from the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, who are also first in the under 17 category; and very close to them, with 13 points, are Alejandro Pérez and Iago García, from the Vigo yacht club.

Vigo and Sanxenxo are fighting for the podium of a Baitra Trophy that held its opening day this afternoon in the Bay of Baiona with very good conditions, on a cold but sunny day and with a wind that remained up from the start, blowing from the north with some 10 knots on average.

After a failed start and general call, the fleet completed three tests of about 40 minutes each in a trapezoidal field delimited by buoys. The sleeves were defining the provisional podium and the clubs from Vigo and Sanxenxo took the places of honor.

The Baitra Trophy ends tomorrow Sunday in Baiona with the second and last day of tests starting at eleven in the morning. The forecasts indicate that there will be less wind than today, but the regatta committee hopes to be able to start another three tasks, in a regatta field similar to today’s.

Once the competition in the water is over, the facilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club will host the awards ceremony for the winners, which will be attended by the manager of Baitra, Juan Carlos González, as sponsor of the event; the mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal; the president of the Galician Sailing Federation, Manuel Villaverde; and various directors of the host club.

The 420 world champions will participate this weekend in Baiona in the Baitra Trophy

 

· Martín Wizner from Vigo and Pedro Ameneiro from Pontevedra will be two of the sailors who will compete in the competition organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club

· The crews will measure their strength in six regattas that the committee will distribute between the days of Saturday and Sunday depending on the weather

· The naval effects company Baitra repeats as a sponsor and consolidates itself as one of the main promoters of basic sailing in Galicia

 

The main yacht clubs in Galicia will move their teams of 420 to Baiona this weekend to compete in the Baitra Trophy, a competition promoted by the Monte Real Club de Yates in which the best sailors in the class will meet.

Among them will be, among others, Martín Wizner from Vigo and Pedro Ameneiro from Pontevedra, who last January were crowned in Fremantle (Australia) as world champions under 17 in the 420 class. We will also see on the water the team formed by Jorge Enríquez and Guillermo Núñez, winners of the previous edition of the Baitra Trophy.

Sanxenxo, Vigo and Rodeira are the clubs that send the most sailors to Baiona, where more than fifty athletes between the ages of 15 and 18 will gather. Teams from Portosín and Oza will also participate in the trophy, as well as from the Monte Real Club de Yates itself.

The participating crews will sail as a fleet and will measure their strength in six regattas that the committee in charge of the organization will distribute, depending on how the weather behaves, between the days of Saturday and Sunday. Today the forecasts indicate that there will be good wind to race, from the north and more than 12 knots of intensity.

At the awards ceremony, scheduled for Sunday at five in the afternoon, the manager of Baitra, Juan Carlos González, will participate, who for yet another year has established himself as one of the main promoters of grassroots sailing in Galicia through sponsorship of different competitions and events.

Also present will be the mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal; the president of the Galician Sailing Federation, Manuel Villaverde and several directors of Monte Real.

In addition to having its own classification, the Baitra Trophy, of a classifying nature for the category, will continue to define the 420 ranking of the Galician Sailing Federation.

Baiona will be the epicenter of dinghy sailing with the celebration of the Baitra Trophy

The Galician fishing village will once again host a new edition of the youth trophy whose main objective is to promote dinghy sailing in Galicia

· The competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of Baitra Accesorios Navales will be held next weekend

· More than fifty young people between 15 and 18 years old from clubs from all over the community will compete in 6 tests aboard 420 class sailboats

The fishing village of Baiona will once again be the epicenter of dinghy sailing in Galicia with the celebration of a new edition of the Baitra Trophy, a championship organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates with the sponsorship of Baitra Accesorios Navales whose main The objective is, from the beginning, to promote grassroots sailing in the Galician community.

For two days, on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of February, more than fifty young sailors between the ages of 15 and 18, coming from clubs from all over Galicia, will compete on board the 420 class sailboats. The regatta committee has scheduled six tasks for them on a trapezoidal course that will be placed inside the bay of Baiona, delimited by buoys and visible from the surroundings.

The first three regattas will be held, if the weather permits, on Saturday from half past two in the afternoon, and the last ones will be held on Sunday from eleven in the morning, in order to end the day with the award ceremony around five in the afternoon at the facilities of the Monte Real Club de Yates.

From the organization, the person in charge of the Sailing School of the Baiona club, Carlos Rúa, assures that “behind the trophy there is a very professional team, both at sea and on land, which will guarantee the success of a test that is very important because the participants are the future of sailing in Galicia”.

Among the participants we will see sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, which last year placed its members at the top of the podium; and other clubs such as the Club Marítimo do Canido, the Real Club Náutico de Rodeira, the Club Marítimo de Portosín or the Club Marítimo de Oza.

Wearing a pendant from the organizing club, the teams formed by Nicolás Domínguez and Yago González will participate; and Rosalía Martínez and Sandra Trigo, a female couple who will try to improve the bronze they achieved in the previous edition.

The Baitra Light Sailing Trophy is once again sponsored, once again, by Baitra, a company dedicated to the marketing and distribution of quality naval accessories and equipment, based in Baiona, which has maintained a firm commitment to sailing for years child in Galicia.

No wind, no race.

The lack of wind forced to suspend today the third day of the Infinitus Rent Trophy, which since last January has been disputed in the bay of Baiona with the J80 as protagonists. The next appointment with the championship will be in 15 days, on Saturday, February 25, starting at 3:00 p.m. in the Bay of Baiona.

Although we were not able to contest the planned sleeves, there was a crew that stood out from the rest. It was that of the girls from the Pazo de Cea who, displaying their good humor and desire to enjoy themselves on the water, brought the carnival back to the regattas, as they had done the previous year. Hey for them!

Third round of the Infinitus Rent Trophy

 

· The J80s competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates crosses its equator tomorrow with the third of the six scheduled days

The day will be exciting due to how close the middle part of the classification is, with seven boats less than ten points apart

 

The J80 one-design fleet that has been competing in the Monte Real Club de Yates Winter League since last January will face off tomorrow, Saturday, in the third round of the Infinitus Rent Trophy. The sailboats will cross the equator of a competition that gets more interesting every day, with the leading crews separated by just one point and with a large number of boats closely grouped in the intermediate positions.

The three tasks scheduled for the third day will be played, as usual, starting at three in the afternoon in the Bay of Baiona, on a circuit of windward-leeward type buoys. The sailboats will have to complete a double round trip that will last around 45 minutes and in which the fastest starts and the most effective maneuvers when taking the buoys will once again be key to making jumps in the classification.

So far, with two days played, there are three boats that stand out from the rest. They are the Virazón de Miguel Lago, from the Monte Real Club de Yates, in first place as a rival to beat; the Portuguese Miudo from the We Do Sailing club, skippered by Francisca Barros and just one point behind the first; and the Cansino of the Commodore of Monte Real Fernando Yáñez, who is third.

In the middle part of the classification there are seven very tight boats, with just ten points separating the first and last, which augurs great competition in the races and excitement on the water.

The Xeral Secretariat for Sport, committed to adapted sailing

 

· The General Secretary for Sport of the Xunta de Galicia renewed the support of her department to the Adapted Sailing School of the Monte Real Yacht Club

· Marta Míguez visited the Baionese club this afternoon to learn about the evolution of a project to which they have been committed for several years

· Created in 2012, the Baiona school brings people with all kinds of disabilities closer to the sea so that they can navigate under equal conditions

 

The Xeral Secretariat for Sport of the Xunta de Galicia will continue to support the Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club, as announced by the head of the department, Marta Míguez, after meeting with the president of the Baion club Jose Luis Alvarez.

Accompanied by the head of the Provincial Sports Service, Daniel Benavides, Míguez went to Baiona today to check the evolution of a school created almost six years ago with the aim of bringing people with disabilities closer to the sea and allowing them to navigate under equal conditions. The head of Sport at the regional level recognized the effort of Monte Real to maintain the activity of the school throughout the year and promised the support of her department during this 2018 so that it can continue advancing.

Since its creation, in 2012, the Adapted Sailing School of the Baiona club has not stopped growing, expanding both its program of activities and the number of users. It is used by people with physical, mental and sensory disabilities from associations such as the Center for Attention to People with Disabilities (CAPD) in Redondela, the Juan María de Nigrán Center, the Association of Parents of People with Intellectual Disabilities in Vigo (ASPAVI), the Galician Association against Neuromuscular Diseases (ASEM GALICIA) or the Association of Families with People with Cerebral Palsy (APAMP).

Theoretical classes, baptisms of the sea, environmental routes, sailing sessions and other activities related to the nautical world are some of the proposals in which nearly 100 people participated last year.

Dear Friends,

After the launch of the 2018 sports calendar, we have already launched several of the planned competitions. Fully involved in the celebration of the Infinitus Rent Trophy, we have launched the second edition of the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race and published the regatta announcement for the Baitra Dinghy Sailing Trophy.

All this while our Honorary President, King Felipe VI, was turning 50 years old, we obtained the Q for Tourist Quality, Baiona became the municipality with the most traffic in Galicia, we redesigned the club’s website, the Team Reauté Chocolat and our School of Sailing repeated in the highest positions in the ranking of the Galician Sailing Federation.

The Monte Real Yacht Club is distinguished with the Q for Quality

 

· The commitment of the historic club from Baiona to tourism excellence in its services and facilities has just been recognized with the prestigious ICTE award

· The Q for Tourist Quality recognizes those establishments that provide quality service, professionalism and safety

· The mayor of Baiona and the president of Monte Real hoisted this morning at the club’s facilities the flag with the distinctive

 

Monte Real Yacht Club’s commitment to excellence in tourism has just been recognized with the Q for Quality , a distinction granted by the Institute for Tourism Quality of Spain (ICTE) that recognizes those establishments that provide a service at the highest level within the tourism sector.

Quality, professionalism and safety were three of the aspects that were taken into account when awarding the badge to the club from Baiona, which also stood out for its reliability, rigor and prestige. Specific actions such as the preparation of a manual of good environmental practices, the construction of a promenade adapted for people with disabilities or the provision of services in several languages, allowed Monte Real to obtain recognition that demonstrates that the services it offers are in line with the needs and expectations of its customers.

The mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal, and the president of Monte Real, José Luis Álvarez, were in charge of raising, at noon at the club’s facilities, the flag with the distinctive, created in 1997 to differentiate and promote establishments related to the tourism.

“Our vocation for improvement and our desire to offer the best possible service to members and visitors have been key – assured the president of Monte Real, José Luis Álvarez- at the time of achieving this prestigious distinction, for which we have worked -he said- very hard”. The mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal, highlighted the importance of the Q for Quality, not only at a national level, but also internationally, and congratulated the club for having achieved it.

There are currently a total of 273 establishments in Galicia recognized with the Q for Tourist Quality , including hotels, travel agencies, tourist apartments, cafeterias, active tourism companies, conference centers, campsites, restaurants and other tourism-related facilities. .

The award of the Q for Quality to the Monte Real Club de Yates further improves Galicia’s figures with respect to Spain as a whole. With regard to nautical-sports facilities, of every 10 Quality Qs awarded in Spain, 6 are in Galicia, which represents 63.6 percent of the total.

In addition to the Monte Real Club de Yates, it is owned by another 6 clubs or ports in the province of Pontevedra (in San Vicente do Mar, Portonovo, Cangas, Vigo and Sanxenxo), 6 in the province of A Coruña (in Cabo de Cruz, Sada , Ribeira, Ares, A Coruña and Portosín) and 1 in Lugo (in Ribadeo).

Next to the Q for Quality, Monte Real has also obtained, in recent months, the Blue Flag and ISO 14001 environmental management certification, which certifies that the club complies with the environmental requirements imposed by the administration, in aspects such as the optimization of resources and waste and in the reduction of the environmental impact derived from its activity.
