The best in the sailing world will be distinguished next September 5 in Baiona with one of the most prestigious awards on the Spanish nautical scene, the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards, which the Monte Real Yacht Club has been delivering for 23 years.

At a gala that will coincide with the second day of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, the club from Baiona will present awards that aim to recognize those people and institutions that, throughout the year, stood out for their work in favor of the world of sailing, as well as as well as for its human and sporting values in the nautical scene.

In the last edition of the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards, the Solventis, owned by shipowners Alberto and Pablo Moro, were awarded; and the Movistar, owned by Pedro Campos, as the best boats of the season, having achieved victories in practically all the regattas in which they participated. Another winner was Desafío MAPFRE, which received the award for the best project, after breaking a new record in the Atlantic on the Discovery Route of America.

The production company A Contracorriente Films received the Mariano Aguado Communication Award, and the Catalan sailor and sailor Alex Pella was recognized as the best ocean sailor. An honorary award was also given to Mary and Joe Woodward for their contribution to promoting nautical tourism in the Rías Baixas in northern Europe.

The winners of this new edition of the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards, which will be announced in the coming days, will receive a reproduction of the central signal mast of the Monte Real Club de Yates, which bears the name of its late president, Mr. Rafael Olmedo Limeses, who died last February.

The awards ceremony will be held next Saturday, September 5, at the club’s facilities in Baiona, coinciding with the second day of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, which this year celebrates its thirtieth edition.
