The Vitaldent Regatta takes shape with the official training sessions of the 2.4 mR Paralympic Class

Friday, June 14, 2013.- Friday’s day in Baiona has served to fine-tune the twenty sailboats that these days will take part in the Vitaldent Regatta, an event with Paralympic sports organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club and the Alex Foundation, with the collaboration of the Department of Mobility of the City Council of Baiona, the National Secretariat of 2.4 mR, the Spanish Paralympic Committee, the Galician Sailing Federation, Tourism of Galicia, Rías Baixas Tourism, Bodegas Terras Gauda and Madrid 2020 among others, being scored for the I Iberdrola Paralympic Sailing Circuit.

The director of paralympic preparation Alfred Buqueras, is these days in Baiona, accompanying the sailors in the sporting events that will make up the national ranking of the 2.4 mR class and from which the team that represents Spain in the different international meetings will come out.

The appointment in Baiona with the Vitaldent Regatta and the fourth round of the Iberdrola Circuit will mark the turning point in the Spanish ranking of the 2.4mR class ”, comments Buqueras. “The four sailors who will make up the Olympic preparation team for 2014 will begin to be profiled ”, concludes by saying the director of Paralympic Preparation.

After the celebration of the first three regattas (Valencia, Girona and Málaga) of the six that make up the Paralympic Circuit, the appointment with Vitaldent offers a first provisional podium, after passing the equator of it and with the first positions differentiated by only one point between them, in which Rafa Andarías, from the Jávea Yacht Club, rules with 6 points, followed by Paco Llovet, from the Arenys Yacht Club, with 7 points, closing the Murcian Antonio Maestre, with 8 points.

After the official training, sailors, coaches and the Vitaldent Regatta Committee participated in the reception that the Yacht Club offered at 8:00 p.m., an act of conviviality prior to the competition, which will start at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday with the Top to the first race of the day, a windward-leeward race set up in a field near Monte Real, and which can be seen from La Ladeira beach.
