The Oral Group Galimplant from Sanxenxo, skippered by Pedro Pazos, won gold in the Cruise-Regatta category after completing the program’s coastal route, almost 12 miles between Vigo and Baiona, in 2 hours and 44 minutes. They received the award from the sponsor of the event, Roberto Lira, head of the Comunica company. In second place in the Cruiser-Regatta class was the Fend la Bise del Monte Real Club de Yates, led by Jean Claude Sarrade. And the bronze went to Ramón Ojea’s Bosch Service Solutions, who sailed, as always, wearing a Canido Maritime Club pendant.

Several clubs also shared the podium in the Cruiser category of the Comunica Trophy. The grand prize of the day went to Rodeira in the Balea Dous, who won in that category with Luis Pérez at the controls. Those from Rodeira left the second and third position for the Margem do Azul III of the Monte Real Yacht Club, skippered by Frederico Lopes and the Santiago Roma Rías Baixas of Iñaki Carbajo, of the Club Náutico Beluso.

In addition to the cruiser categories, the Comunica Trophy included two more groups for J80 and Fígaros monotypes, in which the organizing club’s boats had absolute prominence. Both fleets completed the same route designed for the rest of the ships, starting in front of the transatlantic pier in Vigo, passing through the La Negra and Carallones beacons, and arriving inside the Bay of Baiona.

In the J80 class, victory went to Manuel María Cunha’s Marías, and second and third place for Javier Rey’s Virazón and Bernardo Macedo’s Mondo, respectively.

In the Figaros competition, the Silleiro, skippered by Santi Meigide, won; and Ramón Palao’s Erizana and Genoveva Pereiro’s Bouvento took silver and bronze in a race that was held in good wind, with an average of eight knots, with peaks of ten at times and the occasional drop to six. knots.

Organized with the sponsorship of the Comunica company and the collaboration of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo and the Galician Sailing Federation, the Comunica Trophy is the first major regatta that the Monte Real Club de Yates celebrates in 2017, after the J80 league that organized at the beginning of the year exclusively for these monotypes.

The next sporting event for the Baiona club is the Spring Regatta – Repsol Trophy, which will be held on April 29 and 30 and May 1 in Baiona. It is one of the most classic tests of Monte Real that this year, in addition, is celebrating its anniversary, as it celebrates its fortieth edition.
