New manager at the MRCYB

· With more than twenty years of experience in business management, the man from Madrid assumes the management of one of the most traditional yacht clubs in the country

· In the field of sailing, Calero has been a J80 sailor, a class that the Monte Real Club de Yates has been promoting for years through the acquisition of boats and the organization of specific competitions for these monotypes

The rowing world champion, Óscar Calero from Madrid, has just been appointed as the new manager of the Monte Real Club de Yates. With a Master’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Oxford and an extensive career of more than twenty years in business management, Calero assumes the management of one of the most traditional yacht clubs in the country.

He does so with a CV in which, in addition to his professional experience in the field of business, his extensive background in the sports world stands out. In addition to being world rowing champion in 2009, he has been a coach, technician and development advisor for different federations.

In the field of sailing, Calero has been a J80 sailor, a class that the Monte Real Club de Yates has been promoting for years through the acquisition of new boats and the organization of specific competitions for these monotypes, such as the Winter League that these months are celebrated in Baiona.

Looking to the future, the new manager will work to bring to fruition the guidelines of the club’s Board of Directors, currently chaired by José Luis Álvarez. Some guidelines that involve the implementation of new lines of action in different areas, with the aim of improving the services and benefits that Monte Real offers today to its members and visitors in Baiona.

The promotion of nautical tourism, the organization of sports competitions and the commitment to training through the MRCYB Sailing School and the Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities, will continue to be, one more year, strategic axes in the different actions of the club.
