The Aceites Abril of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo won, this morning, the long stage of the Conde de Gondomar Trophy – Banco Sabadell Grand Prix, after winning the two tests that took place throughout the day, a first between Baiona and the Carrumeiro Chico lighthouse, and a second one including the complete round trip between Baiona and the mythical Corcubión estuary lighthouse.
Luis Pérez Canal’s boat, sometimes skippered by Pablo Iglesias, was the first to turn the Carrumeiro Chico at 8:11 p.m., closely followed by the Pairo 8, which passed the lighthouse second just three minutes later . Almost nine hours of ascent before undertaking the return back to Baiona, in a descent astern, with spinnaker, with an average of 15 knots, which they did very quickly, in just five hours, reaching the bay after one in the early morning.
Victory, therefore, for Aceites Abril, in the first two tests of the Conde de Gondomar Trophy – Banco Sabadell Grand Prix, victories that place it in the lead of the provisional general classification, followed by Pairo 8, also from Real Club Náutico de Vigo, and the Mirfak of Diego López, of the Club Náutico de Ferrol.
After a short break today, Saturday, in which the Monte Real Club de Yates will hold the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race awards ceremony, the Conde de Gondomar Trophy – Banco Sabadell Grand Prix continues tomorrow, Sunday, with the second day of tests, at the that the entire fleet will participate.
