Baiona hosts this Saturday the penultimate day of the AXA J80 Autumn League

 

· The competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates enters its final stretch with Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen at the top of the standings

· Manuel María Cunha’s Marías, Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva and Cristina González Cominges’ Pazo de Cea will seek a spot on the podium

· The weather forecasts announce a fairly windy day that could complicate the navigation of the monotypes in the bay of Baiona

 

Tomorrow, Saturday, the bay of Baiona hosts the penultimate day of the AXA J80 Autumn League, the one-design competition of the Monte Real Club de Yates that enters its final stretch with Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen at the head of the classification.

With a 6-point margin over Marías-Casas do Telhado of the Portuguese Manuel María Cunha, who is their closest rival, Okofen will seek to widen the distance over their competitors to reaffirm their leadership and secure the place of honor in the championship.

It will do so on a day that is expected to be complicated due to the weather, which announces some rain and winds of more than 15 knots with peaks close to 30, conditions that will make the J80 “fly” in the Bay of Baiona.

It will be on this stage where the committee, chaired by Jano Martín, plans to locate the test field and where, if the planned program is achieved, three windward-leeward regattas will be held starting at three in the afternoon, local time. set for the start of the competition.

Behind Javier de Gándara’s Okofen, with 6 points; and Manuel María Cunha’s Marías, with 12, are in the classification, in a fairly tight range of points, Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, with 16; and the Pazo de Cea of Cristina González Cominges, with 18.

Bernardo Macedo’s Mondo, with 25 points, will have to make a little more effort to raise their positions; the Namasté of Luis de Mira, with 26; Cansino by Fernándo Yáñez, with 30; Javier Martínez Valente’s Cunichán, with 33; and Yago G. Robatto’s Cormorant II, with 50.

With the celebration of the penultimate day, the J80 Autumn League organized by Monte Real with the sponsorship of AXA Seguros will only have one last stage left to crown the winners, which will be held on the 24th.
